I Couldn’t Save Her

Roped to the track, train whistle steamed
All was lost, or so it seemed
In summer boots and hiking dress
Not your typical damsel in distress
Like a shot fired from a bow and arrow
I flew in playing superhero
I had a mind to be her savior
As it worked out, I couldn’t save her
I couldn’t save her
I couldn’t save her
No, I couldn’t save her
So she ended up saving herself
Don’t need to say how these things go
Like the plot from a moving picture show
Tied to a log, sawmill trouble
Half and half and no stunt double
I’m the man, yeah, I got this
I’ll work a plan and maybe earn a kiss
I hate to boast, there are none greater
Unfortunately, I couldn’t save her
I couldn’t save her
I couldn’t save her
No, I couldn’t save her
So she ended up saving herself
Struck out once, struck out twice
Struck a match to the fuse of the dynamite
In a hole at the bottom of the diamond mine
This was it, ‘s just a matter of time
Occupied phone booth, know what I mean?
Gotta look sharp, cameras on the scene
I was nimble, lept down the crater
I was quick, but late to save her
I couldn’t save her
I couldn’t save her
No, I couldn’t save her
So she ended up saving herself
I couldn’t save her
I couldn’t save her
No, I couldn’t save her
So she ended up saving herself
